Amid a wilderness of cruel waves I laboured.
I rowed alone atop them as the light departed.
In despair I ceded, but upon gazing upward,
Witnessed the space ’tween each star exhale a marvel:

The loom revealed;
The warp, the weft arrayed;
Eternity ablaze.

I made to clamber out the boat to die but paused to gaze again
